Attend; to turn up, to give attention to. It’s such a simple, and unassuming word, and yet for a leader it can be so powerful. To achieve what must truly be achieved, to solve what must truly be solved, what must I actually attend to? Meetings and priorities determined by others that you passively accept? Conversations you are in, but are not truly committed to - nor genuinely invested in? This is attend in the worst way. There is a very good chance that what you’re doing right now, and what you truly need to attend to, ARE NOT THE SAME THING. So today don’t ask ‘what am I attending?’ Ask yourself the braver question, ‘what is it that I absolutely must attend to?'. Leadership is advanced when we attend to what we truly must.
